Ten parcels from Bordeaux will test during the 2018 and 2019 campaigns a physical barrier to prevent the development of fungal diseases.

The aim of this patented innovation called Viti-Tunnel is to create a removable physical barrier, preventing rainwater from getting in contact with the vine, and therefore preventing from the development of the main diseases of the vineyard (mildew, powdery mildew, rot and others). Theoretically, this tunnel from fifty to one hundred meters long can automatically cover and discover the vines using a transparent and waterproof canvas. Powered by solar energy, the tunnel motor must pull canvas based on a radar or humidity sensor.

The prototype is still in development, although ten farms from Bordeaux have already paid 10,000 euros each to prove it.
